Meliodas and Escanor are two of The Seven Deadly Sins’ most powerful characters, and they’re closely matched in combat, but who came out on top? In this article, we will analyze who will be the winner among them.
In The Seven Deadly Sins, Meliodas and Escanor faced off in an epic battle, but who came out on top? The Seven Deadly Sins is a manga and shounen anime series created by Nakaba Suzuki that takes place in a setting akin to medieval Britain and is partially based on Arthurian legend. It follows a septet of knights who disbanded after being accused of attempting to topple the Liones Kingdom. Each knight represents one of the seven cardinal sins. A decade later, the titular Seven Deadly Sins rejoin to aid Elizabeth, a Liones princess, in reclaiming her realm from the despotic Holy Knights.
Meliodas, the character who bears the sin of fury, is the leader of the Seven Deadly Sins. Meliodas is a 3000-year-old demon who is eventually revealed to be the son of the wicked Demon King and the previous leader of his elite warrior team the Ten Commandments, despite his appearance as an adolescent boy. Meliodas has a peaceful demeanor most of the time, but because he has the sin of wrath and is descended from demons, he is prone to rage-filled outbursts now and then.
Meliodas is exceptionally powerful when he completely releases his abilities, as he did during the Corand arc of The Seven Deadly Sins when he reverted to his demon side after a run-in with his old underling Melascula. Meliodas, consumed by darkness, stood as an enemy against his friends, forcing Escanor to step up and battle his now crazy leader. A titanic battle ensued, but who emerged victorious?
Meliodas took the lead against Escanor first, and while he is unquestionably powerful in his demon form, he was evenly matched against Escanor, who is regarded as one of the most formidable characters for a reason. Escanor has a magical ability known as “Sunshine,” which means that his power increases as the sun gets stronger, peaking at noon. When Escanor’s strength reaches its pinnacle, he takes on the shape of “The One,” which Merlin, another Seven Deadly Sins member, characterizes as a “invincible manifestation of power.”
Escanor took advantage of the fact that his battle with Meliodas took place as noon approached and turned into “The One.” Escanor immediately overwhelmed Meliodas by striking him with a near-fatal blow with his bare hand, knocking him out and leaving a horrific cut on his chest. He was victorious in the fight after stopping Meliodas’ rampage, but both Escanor and Meliodas were exhausted from one of the best confrontations in the anime series. Fortunately, Escanor and Meliodas healed quickly and went on to battle another day in The Seven Deadly Sins (albeit not against each other).
